Who is Arisen Phoenix?

Arisen Phoenix has been making and performing music for more than 40 years—as a drummer, bassist, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer. Over the decades, he has worked across a wide range of genres and musical settings, from original bands and experimental improvisation to folk, country, rock, and beyond.

He is a founding member of the all-original bands The Free Texas State, The Glorious Chordsmen, 50ft.womyn, Last of the Mad Tierneys, Empty Feeling, and My Very Educated Mother Just Sat Upon Nine Pins. He has also contributed to Smart Bomb, Autonomy vs. Shame, Czolgosz and the Sexistentialists, The Nobs, and more cover bands than he can reasonably remember.

His musical history has taken him from a Division I university marching band to dance recitals and theatrical performances; from noise and power-electronics improvisation festivals to post-rock jams, country cover bands, street parades, and folk-music protest sit-ins.

Through it all, Arisen Phoenix has continued writing original music. After four decades of playing just about anywhere music can happen, he remains an active songwriter, composer, and performer.
